]]>The new promo clip takes us back to the past and chronicles the origin story of Simba’s father Mufasa. He’s an orphaned cub at the very start of the film, but things start looking up after he meets a sympathetic lion named Taka, who just happens to be the heir to a royal bloodline.
This chance encounter changes the course of Mufasa’s life, sending him on an expansive journey with an extraordinary group of misfits searching for their destiny and working together to evade a threatening and deadly foe.
Aaron Pierre will lead the voice cast as Mufasa, and he’ll be joined by a group of new and familiar faces. Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, John Kani, and Beyoncé will reprise their roles from the 2019 remake of The Lion King, and they’ll be joined by Kelvin Harrison Jr., Tiffany Boone, Mads Mikkelsen, Thandiwe Newton, Lennie James, and Blue Ivy Carter in her feature film debut.
Mufasa: The Lion King will be a part of Disney’s holiday slate, and it’s hitting the theatres on December 20.

]]>The new trailer reunited us with our favorite Abbott teachers and the school’s quirky principal Ava. After attending a course at Harvard over the summer, she finally decided to change her ways, but her decision to take her job seriously only made things at Abbott even messier.
The show’s ensemble cast includes Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Lisa Ann Walter, Chris Perfetti, William Stanford Davis, and Sheryl Lee Ralph, and they’ll all be back in Season 3.
Several new cast members were added to the ensemble earlier this week, including Josh Segarra (The Other Two), Kimia Behpoornia (Hacks), and Benjamin Norris (Never Have I Ever). Their characters Manny, Emily, and Simon have been described as a trio of good-natured Philadelphia school district representatives who aim to bring fresh perspectives to their roles as school ambassadors.
Season 3 of Abbott Elementary will consist of 14 episodes, and it’s set to premiere on ABC on February 7.

]]>The complex relationship between Bernstein and Montealegre spanned three decades and survived many love affairs. It served as a central point of Cooper’s highly-anticipated follow-up to A Star is Born, and here’s what Netflix’s official logline has to say about it:
“Maestro is a towering and fearless love story chronicling the lifelong relationship between cultural icon Leonard Bernstein and Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein. A love letter to life and art, Maestro, at its core, is an emotionally epic portrayal of family and love.”
The Oscar nominees Cooper and Mulligan are prominently featured in the first teaser, while the rest of the supporting cast includes Matt Bomer, Maya Hawke, Sarah Silverman, Josh Hamilton, Scott Ellis, Gideon Glick, Sam Nivola, Alexa Swinton, and Miriam Shor.
Maestro will be one of the films competing for the Golden Lion at the 80th Venice International Film Festival, where it’s set to premiere on September 2. It will be released in selected theatres on November 22, ahead of its Netflix premiere on December 20.

]]>The first trailer for Season 2 of Loki reunites us with Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson’s Mobius, who are seeking help from Ke Huy Quan’s newly introduced character OB. He’s a Time Variance Authority archivist, who informs Loki he’s suffering from a condition known as time-slipping.
Things get darker from there, as Loki gets reflective in a poignant voiceover, saying he’s been pulled through time, between the past and the present, and that there’s nothing that stands between this world and utter destruction if what he witnessed is true.
Eugene Cordero, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, and Tara Strong will also return in Season 2, and so will Jonathan Majors, who’ll play a variant of Kang the Conquer known as Victor Timely. The next season will also feature several new cast members, including Rafael Casal, Kate Dickie, and Liz Carr.
Loki will return for its second season on October 6 and it will feature six new episodes.

]]>Kraven the Hunter centers on Sergei Kravinoff, one of Marvel’s most formidable villains before he crossed paths with Spider-Man and became one of his biggest enemies. Taylor-Johnson described his character as “a protector of the natural world” and said he was drawn to this role because Kraven isn’t an alien or a wizard, but simply a human with conviction.
Taylor-Johnson’s casting in this role may seem a little confusing considering that he played Pietro Maximoff in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but there’s a catch. This film is not set in the MCU, but in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, and it’s possible for them to overlap in the future as Marvel continues to explore the concept of the multiverse.
Kraven the Hunter will hit the theaters on October 6, after being filmed on location across the UK and Iceland. Its supporting cast includes Ariana DeBose, Russell Crowe, Fred Hechinger, Christopher Abbott, and Alessandro Nivola.

The Idol also stars Suzanna Son, Troye Sivan, Moses Sumney, Jane Adams, Dan Levy, Jennie Kim, Eli Roth, Rachel Sennott, Hari Nef, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Mike Dean, and Hank Azaria. It will arrive at HBO on June 4, following its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival next month.

]]>Secret Invasion will see Nick Fury deal with the ongoing threat of shapeshifting Skrulls infiltrating planet Earth. After learning they’ve been living among us for years, taking positions of power all around the world, Fury decides to stop them and save humanity with the help of his allies.
In addition to Fury, Secret Invasion will feature several characters we were introduced to in previous MCU films, including Everett Ross (Martin Freeman), Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), Talos (Ben Mendelsohn), and James “Rhodey” Rhodes (Don Cheadle).
The cast will also feature Charlayne Woodard, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Killian Scott, Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colman, and Dermot Mulroney.
Secret Invasion has been described as a “crossover event series”, and it will most likely lead to Nick Fury appearing in more MCU movies, starting with The Marvels later this year. This mini-series will feature a total of six episodes, and it’s set to premiere on Disney+ on June 21, as the first series of the MCU’s Phase Five.

]]>Nolan drew inspiration from the book American Prometheus, written by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin, to look back at J. Robert Oppenheimer’s life and legacy, including his time as the head of the Manhattan Project, which developed the first nuclear weapons during World War II, culminating in the creation of the atomic bomb.
“We imagine a future, and our imaginings horrify us… Theory will take you only so far. I don’t know if we can be trusted with such a weapon, but we have no choice. Is anyone ever going to tell the truth about what’s happening here?” Murphy’s Oppenheimer says in the trailer.
Like all of Nolan’s films, Oppenheimer will be a visual feast and he got there through the use of practical effects. Nolan revealed that he used real explosives to recreate the Trinity nuclear test, instead of relying on CGI like most modern filmmakers.
Oppenheimer will premiere on July 21, 2023 and its star-studded cast includes the likes of Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Rami Malek, Benny Safdie, Josh Hartnett, Dane DeHaan, and Kenneth Branagh.

Jenna Ortega is set to portray the teenage Wednesday Addams, and she’ll be in pretty good company. Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, and Isaac Ordonez play Morticia, Gomez, and Pugsley Addams. The new trailer also shows Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester and Gwendoline Christie as principal Larissa Weems. Christina Ricci, who played Wednesday Addams back in the 90s, appears as an original character named Marilyn Thornhill.
We’ll have to wait for over a month to finally watch Wednesday since it’s coming to Netflix on November 2, and it will feature a total of eight episodes.
