Live-action adaptation of the Broadway hit Wicked will bring the untold story of the witches of Oz to our big screens this fall. Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande lead the way in the new trailer for this promising musical, which will take us back to the Land of Oz.
Wicked chronicles the journey of witches Elphaba (Erivo) and Glinda (Grande), who meet as students at Shiz University and forge an unlikely but profound friendship. Things take turn for the worse when they meet Wonderful Wizard of Oz, who sets them on a path to fulfill their destinies as Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.
The cast of this project will be as star-studded as it gets, and it also includes Michelle Yeoh as Shiz University’s headmistress Madame Morrible, Jonathan Bailey as roguish prince Fiyero, Jeff Goldblum as the legendary Wizard of Oz, and Ethan Slater and Bowen Yang as the Shiz University students Boq and Pfannee.
In addition to giving us more details about the live-action adaptation of Wicked, the new trailer also features snippets of several hit songs from the original musical, including “Popular” and “Defying Gravity”.
Wicked will premiere on November 27, just in time for Thanksgiving, and it will be followed by Wicked: Part Two in November 2025.
