]]>Madonna’s The Celebration Tour took her all around the world in the past few months, and she decided to wrap it up in style. Back in late March, she announced a free concert at Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach, and set expectations high for this performance.
“The event will be her biggest gig yet, an unforgettable concert in one of the world’s most beautiful settings. The show will be free of charge as a thank you to her fans for celebrating more than four decades of her music over the course of the epic global run of the tour,” she said in an official statement.
The free concert took place on May 4 and managed to exceed everyone’s expectations. 1.6 million people showed up to watch Madonna perform her biggest hits alongside special guests Anitta and Pabllo Vittar. Copacabana Beach attracted bigger crowds in the past, most notably during its New Year’s Eve events, but Madonna’s concert still managed to make history, setting a record for the largest concert by a standalone artist.

]]>Alcock emerged as one of the main contenders for the role of Clark Kent’s Kryptonian cousin Kara Zor-El, and defeated the likes of Emilia Jones and Meg Donnelly to win this role. She’s no stranger to carrying high-profile franchises on her shoulders—after all, she got her big break with the role of the young Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon.
James Gunn confirmed her casting on social media, and described her as “a fantastically talented young actor.” He added that he was blown away by her auditions and screen tests for Supergirl and said she perfectly embodies Kara Zor-El.
Alcock is expected to portray this character in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, written by Ana Nogueira, but she’ll make appearances in another DC project before leading her own standalone movie. Gunn and Safran will launch their new DC Universe with Superman: Legacy, led by David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, but it remains unclear if Alcock will also make her debut in this film.

]]>1989 (Taylor’s Version) debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart following its release and returned to No. 1 two more times, but its reign is far from over. This album topped the Billboard 200 with 136,000 equivalent album units, becoming the final album of 2023 to do so.
This marks the fourth non-consecutive week 1989 (Taylor’s Version) spent at No. 1, and it’s in pretty good company. Swift’s former No. 1 albums Midnights and Lover also made it to the top ten this week, along with several holiday records, including Michael Bublé’s Christmas at No. 4, Nat King Cole’s The Christmas Song at No. 8 and Mariah Carey’s Merry Christmas at No. 10.
1989 (Taylor’s Version) helped Swift clock in her 67th week atop the Billboard 200 across 13 chart-topping albums, tying the record previously held by Elvis Presley for most weeks spent at No. 1 among solo artists. The Beatles still hold the all-time record, with 132 weeks atop the US Billboard 200 chart.

]]>The first trailer for Season 2 of Loki reunites us with Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson’s Mobius, who are seeking help from Ke Huy Quan’s newly introduced character OB. He’s a Time Variance Authority archivist, who informs Loki he’s suffering from a condition known as time-slipping.
Things get darker from there, as Loki gets reflective in a poignant voiceover, saying he’s been pulled through time, between the past and the present, and that there’s nothing that stands between this world and utter destruction if what he witnessed is true.
Eugene Cordero, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, and Tara Strong will also return in Season 2, and so will Jonathan Majors, who’ll play a variant of Kang the Conquer known as Victor Timely. The next season will also feature several new cast members, including Rafael Casal, Kate Dickie, and Liz Carr.
Loki will return for its second season on October 6 and it will feature six new episodes.
