Madonna delivered many amazing performances during her The Celebration Tour, but none of them compares to its final concert. 1.6 million people showed up to watch the Queen of Pop perform a free concert in Brazil, which broke a major attendance record.

Madonna’s The Celebration Tour took her all around the world in the past few months, and she decided to wrap it up in style. Back in late March, she announced a free concert at Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach, and set expectations high for this performance.

“The event will be her biggest gig yet, an unforgettable concert in one of the world’s most beautiful settings. The show will be free of charge as a thank you to her fans for celebrating more than four decades of her music over the course of the epic global run of the tour,” she said in an official statement.

The free concert took place on May 4 and managed to exceed everyone’s expectations. 1.6 million people showed up to watch Madonna perform her biggest hits alongside special guests Anitta and Pabllo Vittar. Copacabana Beach attracted bigger crowds in the past, most notably during its New Year’s Eve events, but Madonna’s concert still managed to make history, setting a record for the largest concert by a standalone artist.

Just when we thought that award season was long behind us, the iHeartRadio Music Awards returned to LA to celebrate the best music of the past year on Monday night. Taylor Swift led the way with six wins, but she was closely followed by SZA, who collected the coveted song of the year award.

2023 was definitely the year of Taylor Swift, so it wasn’t a shocker to see her named artist of the year at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, beating the likes of SZA, Drake, Miley Cyrus, and Olivia Rodrigo, among others.

SZA was also one of the ceremony’s top winners with four accolades, starting with the song of the year for her chart-topping hit “Kill Bill”. She was also named the R&B artist of the year, in addition to winning R&B album of the year for SOS and R&B song of the year for “Snooze”.

The Screen Actors Guild Awards are Hollywood’s biggest celebration of performers who bring our favorite movies and series to life, and they returned to LA on Saturday night. Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer and the FX series The Bear dominated the ceremony with three wins each.

Oppenheimer’s cast included some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, so it wasn’t a shocker to see it win the trophy for the outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture. Its stars Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. continued their winning sweep ahead of the Oscars, winning SAG Awards in their respective categories.

It was also a big night for the FX dramedy The Bear, the winner of the coveted award for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series. Its stars Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri repeated their Emmy and Golden Globes success, winning accolades for the best actor and actress in a comedy series.

The drama field brought several surprises our way, with the final season of Succession only walking away with the trophy for the outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series. Despite sweeping all other major ceremonies, its stars Kieran Culkin and Sarah Snook lost individual awards to Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us) and Elizabeth Debicki (The Crown).

The 2024 Screen Actors Guild Awards were held on February 24 at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles, with Netflix live-streaming the show.

The first season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians was quite a spectacle, and Disney+ is bringing it back for another ride! Our favorite demigod will return after the streaming giant renewed the adaptation of Rick Riordan’s best-selling book series for another season.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians follows the adventures of a 12-year-old modern demigod, coming to terms with his newfound powers. After the almighty Zeus accuses him of stealing his lightning bolt, Percy must join forces with his BFFs Annabeth Chase and Grover Underwood to try and restore order to Olympus.

Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri lead this fantasy series, which premiered on Disney+ last December to positive reviews. It became a huge hit with Disney+ and Hulu viewers, with the premiere episode attracting 26.2 million viewers in its first three weeks of streaming.

Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, confirmed the show’s renewal and praised it for captivating the imaginations of viewers of all ages everywhere.

“We’re thrilled to embark on an exciting new quest and a season two with Rick Riordan, our fantastic partners at 20th Television, and the exceptional ensemble of cast and creative talent that bring this story to life,” said Davis in a statement.

James Gunn and Peter Safran have been looking for DCU’s new Supergirl for quite some time, and their search is finally over! House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock crushed her audition and defeated tough competition to be cast as the next Supergirl.

Alcock emerged as one of the main contenders for the role of Clark Kent’s Kryptonian cousin Kara Zor-El, and defeated the likes of Emilia Jones and Meg Donnelly to win this role. She’s no stranger to carrying high-profile franchises on her shoulders—after all, she got her big break with the role of the young Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon.

James Gunn confirmed her casting on social media, and described her as “a fantastically talented young actor.” He added that he was blown away by her auditions and screen tests for Supergirl and said she perfectly embodies Kara Zor-El.

Alcock is expected to portray this character in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, written by Ana Nogueira, but she’ll make appearances in another DC project before leading her own standalone movie. Gunn and Safran will launch their new DC Universe with Superman: Legacy, led by David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, but it remains unclear if Alcock will also make her debut in this film.

2023 has been the year of Taylor Swift, and she’s ending it in the best way possible! After breaking records left and right all year long, the Grammy-winning singer topped the final Billboard 200 chart of 2023 with her album 1989 (Taylor’s Version).

1989 (Taylor’s Version) debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart following its release and returned to No. 1 two more times, but its reign is far from over. This album topped the Billboard 200 with 136,000 equivalent album units, becoming the final album of 2023 to do so.

This marks the fourth non-consecutive week 1989 (Taylor’s Version) spent at No. 1, and it’s in pretty good company. Swift’s former No. 1 albums Midnights and Lover also made it to the top ten this week, along with several holiday records, including Michael Bublé’s Christmas at No. 4, Nat King Cole’s The Christmas Song at No. 8 and Mariah Carey’s Merry Christmas at No. 10.

1989 (Taylor’s Version) helped Swift clock in her 67th week atop the Billboard 200 across 13 chart-topping albums, tying the record previously held by Elvis Presley for most weeks spent at No. 1 among solo artists. The Beatles still hold the all-time record, with 132 weeks atop the US Billboard 200 chart.

2023 has been a career-defining year for both Morgan Wallen and Taylor Swift, and they’re getting ready to end it on a high note. The Billboard Music Awards winners have been announced, and Wallen and Swift managed to come out victorious in most major categories.

The country star Morgan Wallen emerged as the winner in 11 categories, including the top male artist. He owes his success at this year’s BBMAs to his album One Thing at the Time and its biggest hit “Last Night”, which won the top Billboard 200 album and top Hot 100 song, respectively, in addition to several more accolades.

As for Swift, she managed to walk away with 10 awards, starting with the night’s main award for the top artist. She defeated the likes of Drake, Wallen, SZA, and Luke Combs to win this award, and brought her career total to a record-breaking 39 BBMAs.

To make the whole thing even better, Drake tied her record for most Billboard Music Awards won by a single artist. His total currently stands at 39 BBMAs, as well, after he won five awards this year. SZA and Zach Bryan were right behind with four wins each, followed by 21 Savage, Bad Bunny, Beyoncé, and Miley Cyrus with three apiece.

We can count on Drake to set several new Billboard chart records every time he drops a new album, and he did it once again! His latest LP For All the Dogs became his 13th No. 1 album in the US, in addition to setting several new Billboard Hot 100 records.

For All the Dogs hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart following its release on October 6 with 402,000 album-equivalent units earned. With 13 No. 1 albums in the United States, Drake is just one LP away from tying Jay-Z with 14 chart-topping albums, but he’s still trailing far behind The Beatles with 19 No. 1 entries.

As for Drake’s success on the Billboard Hot 100, “First Person Shooter” ft. J. Cole became his 13th song to top this chart. By doing so, the Canadian rapper tied with Michael Jackson for the most No. 1 songs among solo male artists, but he’s still behind Rihanna (14), Mariah Carey (19), and The Beatles (20).

All 23 songs from For All the Dogs entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart this week, bringing Drake’s total to 320 entries, making him the first artist in history to pass the 300-song mark. He also holds records for most No. 1 debuts (nine), top five hits (41), top 10 hits (76), top 20 hits (132), and top 40 hits (199).

It’s Taylor Swift’s world, and we’re just living in it! The pop superstar came into this year’s MTV VMAs as the most nominated artist with eleven nods, and managed to take a whopping nine awards home on Tuesday night – including the coveted video of the year with “Anti-Hero”.

Swift defeated Doja Cat’s “Attention”, Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers”, Nicki Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girl”, Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire”, Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ “Unholy”, and SZA’s “Kill Bill” to win video of the year with “Anti Hero”… and that wasn’t even the only award she took home thanks to this song.

“Anti-Hero” was also named song of the year and best pop song, in addition to coming out victorious in several technical categories. Swift also won trophies for artist of the year, show of the summer with The Eras Tour, and album of the year with Midnights – which she announced while winning video of the year with “All Too Well” just last year.

“It’s really felt like the adventure of a lifetime this past year. I cannot believe that it was a year ago at the VMAs that I announced the Midnights album. And all I have to say tonight is thank you. I’m blown away. Thank you so much to the fans. I love you so much,” said Swift in her acceptance speech.

The first season of Loki was met with rave reviews, and expectations are running high for its next chapter. Disney+ finally shared the trailer for the second season of this beloved Marvel show, which sees the God of Mischief embarking on a time-traveling adventure.

The first trailer for Season 2 of Loki reunites us with Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson’s Mobius, who are seeking help from Ke Huy Quan’s newly introduced character OB. He’s a Time Variance Authority archivist, who informs Loki he’s suffering from a condition known as time-slipping.

Things get darker from there, as Loki gets reflective in a poignant voiceover, saying he’s been pulled through time, between the past and the present, and that there’s nothing that stands between this world and utter destruction if what he witnessed is true.

Eugene Cordero, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, and Tara Strong will also return in Season 2, and so will Jonathan Majors, who’ll play a variant of Kang the Conquer known as Victor Timely. The next season will also feature several new cast members, including Rafael Casal, Kate Dickie, and Liz Carr.

Loki will return for its second season on October 6 and it will feature six new episodes.
