2024 Emmy Awards: “Shōgun” Dominates With Record-Breaking 18 Wins

The first season of Shōgun was one for the books, and the Emmy voters recognized the groundbreaking achievement of its cast and crew. The FX historical drama emerged as the main winner at this year’s Emmy Awards, with a record-breaking 18 wins, including outstanding drama series.

Shōgun was the main contender at this year’s Emmy Awards with a total of 25 nods, and it managed to live up to the hype. It won 14 trophies at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards and four more at the Primetime Emmy Awards for a total of 18, thus setting a record for most wins by a series in a single year. It also made history as the first non-English series to win the outstanding drama award.

It was also a night to remember for The Bear, despite the fact it lost the outstanding comedy series award to Hacks. FX’s hit series walked away with four trophies at the Primetime Emmy Awards for a total of 11 wins this year, making history as the most coveted comedy series in a single season.

Netflix’s viral hit Baby Reindeer also lived up to the hype and emerged as one of the top winners with four major awards. It was named outstanding limited or anthology series, while its leading duo Richard Gadd and Jessica Gunning won awards in the acting field.

Eugene Levy and Dan Levy joined forces to host the 2024 Primetime Emmy Awards, which took place on September 15 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
