Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are one of the sweetest power couples in the entertainment industry. John’s songs have become the soundtrack to many relationships, and Chrissy went from being the supermodel everyone desired to becoming a one-woman cooking empire whose food everyone wanted to recreate and eat, and the two make a magnificent pair.
They met when John was making a music video for the song “Stereo” in 2007. As one of the hottest models around, Chrissy got cast to co-star in it, and the two were seen on screen together in animated forms. When asked if it was love at first sight, John replied, “Not right away. I’m more cautious than that. I wasn’t like, ‘This is the woman I’m going to marry’ from day one. For me, I’m the kind of person who needs to grow into that feeling. It was probably a couple of years in when I could already see us being together forever.”
They Hooked Up After The Video Shoot
While it may not have been love at first sight, there were definitely sparks flying immediately. They talked through the entire shoot, then went back to his hotel room and ate In-N-Out. Chrissy isn’t shy about it, saying, “I’m not going to lie. We hooked up.”
John was a busy guy though, and Chrissy knew to give him his space as he was on tour. Though they would talk and text often, Chrissy said, “I let him be himself for a while. The worst thing you can do is try to lock someone like that down early on, then have them think, There’s so much more out there. I played it cool for a long time. Never once did I ask, ‘What are we?’ Marriage was never my goal because I’ve never been very traditional. I was just happy to be with him.”
Things Picked Up When John Got Off Tour
They talked so much that the feelings grew deeper. “We would talk on the phone,” John recalled, “and I started to fall in love with how engaging and witty and funny she is.”
John’s tour ending meant they had more time to spend with each other, and things really flourished then. “Once we started spending more time together between tour stops and all this other stuff,” he said, “We realized we had such a connection—and then it blossomed into a marriage and a baby.”
The Glamorous Married Life
John proposed in the Maldives, and the two got married at Lake Cuomo, which is where they took their first trip together and she made a wish that they’d be together forever.
The wish came true, and now that they have children, they really are one of the cutest, sweetest, most enviable families in the world of entertainment, not to mention the most talented.
