Taylor Swift’s new albums are always worth waiting for, and she rocked our world with The Tortured Poets Department. The Post Malone collaboration “Fortnight” was released as its lead single, and its music video is one wild descent into madness.
Just like the majority of Swift’s music videos in recent years, this one was directed by the singer herself, and she described it as the perfect visual representation of the entire album.
“When I was writing the ‘Fortnight’ music video, I wanted to show you the worlds I saw in my head that served as the backdrop for making this music. Pretty much everything in it is a metaphor or a reference to one corner of the album or another,” she wrote on Instagram.
Swift is joined by Post Malone, who plays her love interest, a co-worker at a dystopian office where they use old-fashioned typewriters, and one of the doctors at the insane asylum where Swift is held against her will. Dead Poets Society co-stars Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles also make a cameo as two of the doctors doing experiments on Swift.
The “Fortnight” music video accompanied the release of Swift’s new album The Tortured Poets Department on April 19. It’s one of 16 songs featured on its standard edition, but Swift also released an additional 15 tracks as a part of its companion piece The Anthology.
