We’re in the early days of the awards season, and the Gotham Awards are one of the first ceremonies to ring it in. Past Lives won the trophy for the best feature at this award show, while Anatomy of a Fall and Beef topped the list of winners with two awards each.
Past Lives was one of the most-nominated films at this year’s Gotham Awards, and it managed to win the most coveted award of the night. It defeated tough competition in Passages, Reality, Showing Up, and A Thousand and One to be named the best feature film.
Anatomy of a Fall was also amongst the night’s biggest winners, with a total of two awards. In addition to beating All of Us Strangers and Poor Things to be named the best international feature, it also won the award for the best screenplay.
The Gotham Awards were initially introduced as the celebration of independent film, but they branched out to honor several television shows this year. Beef was honored with two awards, including breakthrough series under 40 minutes and outstanding performance in a new series (Ali Wong), while A Small Light won the award for breakthrough series over 40 minutes.
The Gotham Awards were held on November 27, and the list of honorary award recipients included Air, Barbie, Ferrari, Killers of the Flower Moon, Maestro, and Rustin.
