When it comes to being famous these days, many people get on the famous social media platform, TikTok. TikTokers do lip-syncs, do fun challenges, or make some cool things and share with their followers. Enter Steve, an 81-year-old guy who makes vids of himself cooking quick and easy recipes. It may sound strange that such an old guy would be using a platform like TikTok which mainly has a younger audience, but there’s something really heartwarming about it all.
“Cooking With Steve” is what he calls his channel and even though he was a bit lonely at first, he now has video posts that get over 200K views and he’s up to 5.2 million total! So, it’s safe to say that what was once a “silly” video channel has now exploded to make the loveable old Steve an official TikTok star.
Steve was asked about his life outside of TikTok and his social media career. He mentions not having any children or grandkids, so being on TikTok makes him not feel so alone. A lot of the comments are about how much people love him and claim that he’s the best thing to happen to TikTok, so he feels blessed.
Steve also claims that he’s a self-taught cameraman and does his own lighting and videography. He understands how to post vids on TikTok, but also admits if he comes across anything too challenging he’ll hop on the Google or watch a how-to video on YouTube. Most of the videos Steve makes aren’t pre-scripted or planned either, adding to the loveable aspect of having live and uncut videos.
No matter how the TikTok posts are made, it’s clearly working out for Steve. If TikTok makes Steve feel less lonely too, then all the better! Keep up the great work Steve!
