This marks the biggest opening for an animated movie and video game movie of all time, breaking the records held by Frozen 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog 2, respectively.

The film’s post-credit scene hints at a potential sequel, but Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri previously said they’re focusing on the film at hand.

“Our focus right now is entirely on bringing the film out to the audience, and at this time, we’re not prepared to talk about what’s coming in the future… I definitely wouldn’t rule anything out,” Meledandri told Variety.
