Everything Everywhere All At Once entered this year’s Academy Awards as the clear front-runner, and it managed to live up to the hype. The absurdist sci-fi epic walked away with a total of seven Oscars, including the biggest award of the night—best picture.

Everything Everywhere entered the ceremony with a total of eleven nominations in ten categories, and eventually walked away with seven Oscars—most for any film since Slumdog Millionaire won eight back in 2009.

The directing duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert collected three trophies for their work on this film—best picture alongside Jonathan Wang, best director, and best original screenplay.

Everything Everywhere was the biggest winner of the night in the acting categories, as well, with Michelle Yeoh making history as the first Asian woman to win best actress. Her co-stars Ke Huy Quan and Jamie Lee Curtis dominated the supporting categories, while Brendan Fraser won the Oscar for best actor for The Whale.

With Everything Everywhere and The Whale, A24 was definitely the biggest winner of the night, but Netflix also had a reason to celebrate. The streamer’s anti-war epic All Quiet on the Western Front collected four trophies, including best international feature film, original score, production design, and cinematography.

The 95th Academy Awards took place on March 12 at LA’s Dolby Theatre, and Jimmy Kimmel was in charge of hosting the show for the third time.

Everything Everywhere was a clear favorite to win the night’s biggest award: outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture. It defeated the likes of Babylon, The Banshees of Inisherin, The Fabelmans, and Women Talking, but the rest of its wins are a different story.

The biggest shocker came in the best supporting actress field, where Jamie Lee Curtis defeated Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s Angela Bassett. Her co-star Stephanie Hsu was also in the running, which means that Everything Everywhere won all the awards it was competing for.

Winners in the television field were much easier to predict – The White Lotus was the biggest winner of the night with two wins, including outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series. Awards season is truly heating up, and the Critics’ Choice Awards are the latest major ceremony to take place on Sunday night. Everything Everywhere All at Once was crowned as the show’s biggest winner with five trophies, while Better Call Saul led the way in the television categories with three awards.

Everything Everywhere became one of the most nominated shows in the Critics’ Choice Awards history when it scored 14 nominations and it lived up to the hype. It managed to walk away with a total of five awards, including best picture.

Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert also had a reason to celebrate after picking up two more awards for this film: best directing and best screenplay. Everything Everywhere came out victorious in two more categories: best supporting actor (Ke Huy Quan) and best editing (Paul Rogers).

The television field was more crowded than ever this year, but that didn’t stop Better Call Saul from coming on top. The final season of this show won three accolades – best drama series, best actor in a drama series (Bob Odenkirk), and best supporting actor in a drama series (Giancarlo Esposito). It was also a big night for Abbott Elementary, The Dropout, and Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, and they ended up winning two awards each.

The 28th Critics’ Choice Awards returned to Los Angeles on January 15, with Chelsea Handler hosting the ceremony.

Everything Everywhere All at Once is one of the defining pop cultural milestones of 2022 and Oscar voters are embracing it with open arms. The list of Academy Awards nominations is in and this absurdist sci-fi epic is leading the way with 11 nominations.
