Richard Linklater’s “Blue Moon” Casts Ethan Hawke, Margaret Qualley, & More

Richard Linklater’s films always feature a pretty impressive cast, and his next project will be no exception. Ethan Hawke, Margaret Qualley, Bobby Cannavale, and Andrew Scott landed key roles in Linklater’s upcoming Sony Pictures Classics film Blue Moon.

Blue Moon hails from screenwriter Robert Kaplow, whose novel Me and Orson Welles previously inspired Linklater’s 2008 film of the same name. It will chronicle the complicated relationship between Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart, the iconic songwriting duo who wrote a number of Broadway musicals by each other side.

Their working relationship eventually came crashing down, and Blue Moon will take us to the opening of the Broadway classic Oklahoma!, the first musical Rogers wrote without Hart after finding a new partner in crime in Oscar Hammerstein II.

This project will reunite Linklater with Ethan Hawke, the star of his film Boyhood and the Before trilogy. Blue Moon has been a long-time passion project for this amazing duo, and they’re finally making it happen thanks to Sony Pictures Classics.

In addition to Hawke, Blue Moon will star several more acclaimed stars, including Margaret Qualley (Drive-Away Dolls), Bobby Cannavale (The Watcher), and Andrew Scott (All of Us Strangers). The rest of the cast will be announced before production kicks off in Dublin, Ireland this summer.
