Raye put her heart and soul into her debut album My 21st Century Blues, and she’s finally reaping the fruits of her labor! The BRIT Awards returned to London’s The O2 Arena on Saturday night, and Raye became the most decorated artist in a single year with six awards.
Raye made the BRIT Awards history long before the actual ceremony took place, and scored a record-breaking seven nods, most by an artist in a single year. She swept the ceremony with six wins, only losing the best pop act award for Dua Lipa.
Raye’s hard work on her debut album My 21st Century Blues finally paid off, after this LP won the British album of the year trophy, beating The Ballad of Darren by Blur, Beautiful and Brutal Yard by J Hus, No Thank You by Little Simz, and Heavy Heavy by Young Fathers.
To make the whole thing even better, Raye also won additional two main awards – the British artist of the year and the song of the year with “Escapism” ft. 070 Shake. She was also named the best R&B act, best new artist, and songwriter of the year, bringing her total to record-breaking six awards.
The 2024 BRIT Awards were co-hosted by Clara Amfo, Maya Jama, and Roman Kemp on March 2 from The O2 Arena in London.
