Lana Del Rey is Going Full Country on Her Next Album “Lasso”

Lana Del Rey is gearing up for the release of her tenth studio album, and this record will be unlike anything we’ve heard from her before. The Grammy-nominated singer is planning to take a musical detour with her upcoming country album Lasso, set to be released this September.

Lana Del Rey was one of the celebrities in attendance at Billboard’s pre-Grammy event in Los Angeles, and she took the stage to honor Jack Antonoff. In addition to singing praises to her frequent collaborator, Del Rey revealed they’ve been working on an album together, which will explore a new uncharted territory.

Del Rey said that “the music business is going country” and she wanted to give this genre a shot. The singer said that Antonoff “has followed [her] to Muscle Shoals, Nashville, Mississippi, over the last four years”, hinting they’ve been working on country-themed songs for quite some time.

It’s not a shocker to see Del Rey toying with country, since she explored many different genres over the years, from rock to baroque pop. Her latest album Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd fell under the Americana and alt-pop umbrella, and it will be in the running for album of the year at the Grammys on Sunday night.
