After going dark last year, the Golden Globes made a glamorous comeback on Tuesday night, and the stars were shining brighter than ever! The Banshees of Inisherin was the night’s biggest winner, followed by The Fabelmans, while Abbott Elementary ruled over the television field.
The Banshees of Inisherin came into the night as one of the front-runners after scoring record eight nominations—and it lived up to the hype. It was named the best motion picture: comedy or musical, while its star Colin Farrell and screenwriter Martin McDonagh picked up the trophies in their respective categories.
Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans established itself as a major Oscar contender after winning best motion picture: drama and best director at the Golden Globes. It was also a big night for Everything Everywhere All At Once, with Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan both collecting acting awards in their respective categories.
The television field didn’t bring too many surprises our way, with Abbott Elementary being named best television series: comedy or musical to win a total of three awards. It was a big night for HBO, and its shows House of the Dragon and The White Lotus were named best drama and best limited or anthology series, respectively.
The 80th Golden Globe Awards were hosted by Jerrod Carmichael, with the ceremony taking place on January 10 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.
