Natalie Portman is what you may call a triple threat when it comes to filmmaking. She’s an incredible actress, director, and producer. However, if the situation ever calls for it, she can be the production’s on-call psychologist as well. She graduated from Harvard with a psychology degree in 2003. She’s even published quite a few articles on peer-reviewed scientific journals.
The set of the hit comedy series The Office definitely attracted Ivy Leaguers. It’s no surprise then that B.J. Novak came from an Ivy League school as well. The Office alum graduated from no less than Harvard with a major in English and Spanish. He was even a member of the infamous Harvard Lampoon.
The late-night show host Conan O’Brien must have sharpened his wit at The Harvard Lampoon. He was so good at satire and comedy that he was even elected to twice as president of the school magazine. It was an incredibly rare feat that not even presidents and intellectuals that came before him ever accomplished. Couple that wit and humour with a degree in American history and you’ve got a voice that’s particularly strong in social commentary.

]]>It was just a normal day for Ryan Gosling. He was going about his business walking down 6th Avenue in Manhattan when all of a sudden, he spotted a woman obliviously about to walk into oncoming traffic. There was a reason for this too, the woman was British and was looking the wrong way! Gosling grabbed her by the arm and told her to watch out. The Internet melted, and memes were made of the incident. Come to find out, the woman was a journalist and wrote about her experience for Gawker. She tried to downplay the entire incident and said that she was sure another girl standing next to her would’ve helped too if Gosling wasn’t there. We guess some people aren’t that impressed with celebrity heroes.
It always seems to be the case when celebs are on vacation, trouble is just around the corner. Kate Winslet was staying at Richard Branson’s Necker Island home and at around 4 am the house caught fire! There was a lightning strike and Hurricane Irene was approaching. Winslet’s kids were taken out of harm’s way and got out safely. After seeing this, Winslet rushed back inside to carry Branson’s mother, 90 years old at the time, to safety.
Many don’t realize how much of a real-life hero Steve Buscemi is. After 9/11, he reunited with his old firefighting unit to volunteer downtown in the aftermath. Buscemi cleared rubble and searched for any survivors. Buscemi wears a superhero uniform, in the form of a firefighter’s outfit. During the wake of Hurricane Sandy, he would also return to help out alongside his old unit.
