Kate Winslet was staying at Richard Branson’s Necker Island home and at around 4 am the house caught fire! There was a lightning strike and Hurricane Irene was approaching. Winslet’s kids were taken out of harm’s way and got out safely. After seeing this, Winslet rushed back inside to carry Branson’s mother, 90 years old at the time, to safety.

Many don’t realize how much of a real-life hero Steve Buscemi is. After 9/11, he reunited with his old firefighting unit to volunteer downtown in the aftermath. Buscemi cleared rubble and searched for any survivors. Buscemi wears a superhero uniform, in the form of a firefighter’s outfit. During the wake of Hurricane Sandy, he would also return to help out alongside his old unit.
