Mandela Effect at Work for Spy Kids

The lockdowns may have terrible consequences but, it has some silver linings. One of those silver linings is that we get the chance to revisit old movies that we watched as kids.

However, for one Tik Tok user, her trip down memory lane has resulted in a confusing bout with the Mandela Effect. In a Tik Tok post that has since gone viral, Norah Cavallin shares a scene from the 2001 film Spy Kids. In it, Carmen and Juni had to jump into the ocean water. They take a dive and go spelunking into a shark-infested cave. Lucky for them, the sharks are asleep. The weird thing is that Norah, who has seen the movie numerous times recall this scene completely differently.

She doesn’t recall the kids going into the cave at all. Instead, she remembers Juni peeing in the water and Carmen being grossed out about it. She even quotes the dialogue from her memory. Things get even more unusual because people commented to remember the scene exactly the way Norah remembers it.

The Mandela Effect is definitely in effect here as there were no alternate versions of the movie. It’s just a case of a whole lot of people having a shared false memory.
