BBC always makes sure to surprise Doctor Who fans just in time for Christmas and they didn’t disappoint this year. The new trailer teases the show’s 60th anniversary and it introduces us to a few new faces, while also seeing beloved fan favorites make a comeback.
The trailer opens with Catherine Tate’s Donna Noble struggling to come to terms with her past, years after the memories of her time with the Doctor have been erased. “Sometimes, I think there’s something missing. Like I had something lovely and it’s gone,” she says in the teaser.
David Tennant is also back in style, playing the Fourteenth Doctor this time around, but he isn’t the only Time Lord here! The new teaser trailer also sees Ncuti Gatwa step into the role ahead of the show’s fourteenth season, when he’s set to become the Fifteenth Doctor.
The 60th anniversary Doctor Who special also marks the return of the acclaimed showrunner Russell T. Davies, and he’s promising many more surprises are on the way.
“If you thought the appearance of David Tennant was a shock, we’ve got plenty more surprises on the way! The path to Ncuti’s Fifteenth Doctor is laden with mystery, horror, robots, puppets, danger, and fun!”, said Davies in a statement.
