Why Beyoncé and Jay Z Want You to Go Vegan

Power couple Beyoncé and Jay Z are known to be worshippers of the vegan diet. Prior to last year’s Coachella, Beyoncé went on a plant-based diet.  To celebrate, she even posted a homemade avocado-toast breakfast on her social media account. She and her husband then introduced 22 Days Nutrition, a vegan meal service, alongside their personal trainer, Marco Borges.

To give their lifestyle a bigger platform, Beyoncé posted a photo of Greenprint, a project that aims to encourage others to integrate partial or full veganism into their daily lives. Here’s the bonus: if you stick to the vegan program, you can be qualified for a sweepstake where the grand prize is unlimited and includes free Beyoncé and Jay Z tickets!

In an official statement released by the couple, they pledged to cut meat out of their diet. “The information is hard to ignore. The benefits of a single plant-based meal a day can have such a profound impact on our health and the environment, spanning from cutting carbon emissions to conserving water. We want to challenge you as we challenge ourselves to move towards a more plant-based lifestyle,” the couple said on the relevance of veganism’s carbon-cutting effects.

The big question is: Would you go vegan for Beyonce and Jay Z?

Even if you aren’t fans of the celebrity couple, the advantages of a predominantly plant-based diet are incredible. According to the Mayo Clinic, “people who don’t eat meat—vegetarians—generally eat fewer calories and less fat, weigh less, and have a lower risk of heart disease than non-vegetarians do.” Even the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) supported this claim, saying consumption of less meat decreases greenhouse gasses and counters deforestation. Whether you do it for yourself and the environment or because Beyoncé and Jay Z persuaded you to, you’ll be making a positive contribution to the world.
